Professional Organization

BCEA/KEA/NEA is the largest professional organization of educators in the United States. It is committed to ensuring the future of quality public education and the continuing improvement of the profession.  A better future for all begins with involved members who unite through their professional organization

Professional Development

KEA offers members a wide variety of professional development training opportunities.  KEA strives to offer high quality workshops on every area of concern to members, at little or no cost to participants.

Political Clout

The Kentucky Education Association is recognized as the single most effective voice for public education in Boone County and the state.  Likewise, the National Education Association-to which all BCEA members also belong-is the strongest voice for public education in the country.

Discounts

Many KEA members save more than their annual dues through Association discounts on everything from hotels and car rentals to insurance.  You’ll find a complete listing of all the KEA member benefits and services in the back of your KEA members book.  As an NEA member you have many benefit and discount options and you will find them here http://www.neamb.com/

Liability Insurance

This insurance covers defense of members in civil and criminal suits brought against them arising out of employment-related issues.

Publications

NEA Today and KEA News are just two of the many publications and resources published by KEA for its members.  BCEA also published The Beacon and maintains this web site to keep members informed about a variety of topics.

Legal Assistance

The Association’s legal advise goes far beyond liability insurance and attorneys.  Any time you have a question about your employment rights or benefits, BCEA or the UniServ Director is available to answer those questions.  If you need legal assistance, KEA’s attorneys are the best in Kentucky on employment-related or education law.  And these services are free-of-charge to KEA members.

Information

BCEA is a teacher’s best source of accurate, timely information about current laws, regulations, and policies concerning public education.  Addition information is as close as a phone call for members.

Representation

Whether it’s contract negotiations, a grievance, an educational coalition, a legislative committee, or the State Board of Education, whenever and wherever decisions are being made that impact teachers, students, and public education, KEA is there representing members’ views.

Public Relations

The Association reaches the public with members’ views, and builds the image of school employees through solid media relations, television and radio advertising, special events and other public relations activities.
